Ilfracombe - you will find lots of seaside type shops all along the harbor or take a stroll along their Victorian high street where you'll find some boutique type shops, cafes, restaurants and amenities. 
Barnstaple - The largest town in North Devon you will find plenty of bigger named shops in the high street and shopping center Greenlanes, such as River Island, Tk Maxx, Next, M&S and much more. 
You can quite simply walk for miles and miles all over North Devon. There are paths along the beautiful coastline, all over Exmoor national park and along the famous Tarka trail. To help you plan the perfect route for your ability please visit the following websites. 
There are plenty of cycling routes around North Devon for all abilities. Most famous is the tarka trail stretching from Braunton to Torrington. You can hire a bike from Barnstaple.
